End of Upward Bound 2010

Blogging was key to the class. It forced us to write even when we had writer's block. As high school seniors, we are going to be facing many classes that will require us to write a lot. Blogging helped me write when I was incapable of writing. I enjoyed expressing myself through blogger, it was something that I never thought I would do. But, it helped us become better writers and it was great reading about others also. Since this class was our first class, all I had on my mind was how comfortable I would be if I was sleeping. Writing without a topic was hard at times. Overall, blogging was fun, it was a new experience that I enjoyed.
For the rest of the summer I plan on trying to find a job. I have to start buying my own stuff, I'm tired of asking for money from my parents. Also, since I will not be able to test out of pre-calc, I will still continue my independent study. I would like to get ahead of the game as far as possible. Other things that will happen this summer are still not planned. The best things about summer are the things that are not planned.
As for the rest of my life, after high school, I would like to attend the University of Michigan and pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering. As of right now, many things are a mystery, I guess I will have to see where life takes me.

Second to last post

Hershey's chocolate has to be my favorite treat of all time. There is never a time where I would prefer a different chocolate bar. It is just something about the taste that satisfies my taste buds. It never disappoints me. The plain chocolate is good, but milk chocolate with almonds is the best.

Family

This weekend was a great weekend. I didn't do antything special; it just felt great. There wasn't much going on, a very relaxed weekend. Played frisbee with the family. Went to the mall, bought some stuff. Nothing grand, but great quality time with the family.

Big Three

One of the best things that could have happen in the NBA happened. The top three free agents have signed with the same team. Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, and LeBron James are going to be partners, and work hard so they can get their fingers filled with championship rings. LeBron James was the free agent that most people wanted to know right away where he was going to go. He made his decision yesterday. He decided to join the Miami Heat. This means that there is going to be a massive heat wave coming for the next couple of years. The only problem here is who is going to shine between Lebron and Dwayne. They are both superstars of the league, both of them want to shine at the top at the end. Who will it be?

The Hardest Class

The hardest class that I have ever taken has been A.P U.S History. This class had so much reading homework that I couldn't finish on that certain day. The instructor was so hard on us, that most of us disliked him. But, in the long run, he is going to be the best teacher I have ever had because he pushed us to measures that we thought we wouldn't be able to surpass. Although I didn't receive the grade that I wanted, I did learn a lot. Sometimes us students need to stop complaining and realize that our teachers care and want you to succeed. That is why they challenge us. I feel that when a teacher does not challenge their student, then they really don't care about their students.

Class

The thing I hate the most about school is when classes get boring. I hate it, I just don't know why some teachers think that something is fun when they obviously see there students dosing off. The one class that has never made me go to sleep has been math class because I feel that if you don't pay attention, you wont be able to teach yourself.

Competition

Today is going to be a great day of competition. One of our TC's has organized a volleyball tournament. There is going to be ten teams, nine teams that consist of just students and the final team is made up of all the TC's. The TC's think that the students are just playing for second place, they are sadly mistaking that I have a really good team. Two days ago, nine seniors were elected as captains, me being one chose people who I have seen hustle. We don't have to win the whole tournament, but we do have to hustle. We have to show the TC's that we are not just going to hand them over the win, they too have to play hard.

Free Agents

One more day until free agents choose their teams. LeBron James, the best player in the NBA will finally choose a team. He is the most anticipated free agent in sports history. Imagine, there has been many great basketball players, but James sticks out. He averaged 29 points per game, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists. He is just one of the greatest players to play the game of basketball. Hopefully he decides to stay with his home team of Cleveland. Without him there, there is no team, literally. He is the tenth player to win most valuable player back to back.

Math

Something that has become very easy for me has been math. Although sometimes I have no clue what I have to do, I always manage to figure it out. Math has always been one of the toughest subjects for most students. They have to just keep trying to do their best.

At my middle school, there is a program called Academic Games. It is a quiz bowl type game where people compete. I've been part of this program since I was in the fifth grade, and I must say this has helped me a lot. I've competed in the National numerous of times, and I've won third place in equations in the nation. It was such a difficult task to do.

Summon

As of right now, researching for papers is sometimes difficult. Sometimes Google doesn't give you what you are looking for and sometimes it is difficult to refine you search. When you use Summon, you are able to refine your very easily. This will not only give you great and relevant articles, but it will save time. If I had to use Summon, I believe it would be for research. Something I would enjoy researching would be engineering. I enjoyed using Summon. It was easy to use and it gave relevant information.
If I end up coming to Grand Valley State University, I would be using Summon for many of my research papers.

Late

Today started as a horrible day. I never thought that this would happen to me, but it did. I never thought I would over sleep in Upward Bound. I'm a person who likes taking care of business.

English:Math

Something that I have never enjoyed has been English class. It's not because I don't like the teacher, but because I'm not great at the subject. The one class that I do very well on is math class. This subject just comes too easy for me. Maybe because that's how I think; My thinking is like math, If I do this plus this other activity the result would be this. Its something that I am able to comprehend with ease.

Saving a Dog

Going to go get some books for Mrs. Breen, we came across a dog. We took thirty minutes to go get the books, when it was suppose to take ten minutes.

Money

Money is something that everyone works towards getting. But, while trying to get money they lose focus of the things surrounding them such as their famalies. Money helps to bring happiness but it isn't something that you should lose your focus on. When you make so much money, you do not know what to spend it on. For example, Bill Gates gives away a lot of money so others can achieve their goals. He can buy so many things, but he insists on giving it away.

Music

Something that I will never get tired of is music. It's just so soothing. There will always be a song for the mood you are in. Listening to music is one thing, but playing is another. When you play music there is another feeling. A feeling that feels great and makes you in control.
These are the reasons why I listen and play an instrument. I listen to R & B, Hip Hop, and of course my Spanish music. These genres just make me more relax. I play the Alto Sax. I must say this is the best instrument out there. The reason why I say this is not because I play it, but because of how it sounds.

June 15- Basketball

What is on my mind?
There are many things going through my mind. One particular thing is the NBA finals. I'm looking forward towards watching a great game. The thing I love to see is a great game being played. Thus far, the NBA finals have been going as planned. The Boston Celtics won the previous game, which means that they are in control of the series. All they have to do is win one more game, and the rest will be history.
The reason why I enjoy watching basketball is because it is very competitive. It is great to play, and fun to watch especially when the players are great.
